The Society enjoyed another beautiful day’s sunshine at Castlewarden Golf Club on Thursday 7th August for our 6th outing of the year. The event was very kindly sponsored by the President of Castlewarden and EEGS member, Joe Robinson. Ray Ryan was the clear winner with a fabulous score of 39 stableford points off the white tees. The Division winners were Kevin Robinson and Paddy Harrington while other winners included Joe Brophy, Tony O’Mahony, Tom Flanagan and Derry McEvoy. The visitor’s prize was won by Alex Flanagan with a great score of 40 pts.

The Golfer of the Year competition is very tight this year with 5 members in with chance of winning the title. Both Tom Flanagan and Ray Ryan with 35 points share a 2 point lead over Phil Kelly, 3 over Willie Buckley and 6 over Mick Cronin. Ray is probably the favourite at this stage as his 5th best card is a zero but it leads to an exciting finale.

EEGS expresses our sympathies to the family of a former member, Pat Carey, who passed away since our last outing. Pat had a carefree attitude when it came to golf and always entertained us with so many jovial stories. May he Rest in Peace.

Our next outing is Pearse Daly’s Captains’ Day at Kilcock Golf Club on Friday 5th September. Pearse has again promised us glorious sunshine and fabulous prizes so it would be great to have as many members as possible playing on the day.
